I first listened to this yesterday on VH1’s Hard Rock Countdown. I think it captures the spirit of the 80’s pretty good.

My cover of “Patience” by Guns & Roses. My guitar is an Ibanez S470 and is tuned half-step down here.
Magica – power metal band from Constanta

I’m am not aware of how things are in other countries but in Romania, the music industry is overly staturated with pop artists and one-summer bands that sound almost the same. We have music that promotes all kinds of non-values such as the joy of having lots of women and having the latest 12MP camera phone just to show off or the nice tingling sensation that such an “artist” gets when he has enemies that envy him and his mighty kingdom of cash and cars. In other words it’s all about materialism. That’s the whole “message” of the music.
Yesterday, I had the great surprize of disovering a new band (new to me) on YouTube. They play power melodic heavy metal, like Nightwish or Within Temptation but they have something unique about them. After doing some research on them (I was interested in the gear that they use), I found out from their official site that they’re actually from Romania! Even more, they’re from Constanta, which is my hometown. Romanian rock isn’t dead after all! You check out their site here.
I’ll let you enjoy one of their songs:
